Looking to get treatment for your depression, anxiety, OCD or PTSD with TMS therapy?
The team here at Success TMS, have helped 1000’s recover at our locations across the country..
Our Chief Medical Offer, Dr. Lindsay Israel, has put together this time-tested list so you can get optimal results.
Make the most of your treatments by following her 10 tips & tricks below!
1. Sleep well at night.
TMS can cause a lulling effect early on in the treatment, so make sure you let yourself sleep after your session. Plus, better sleep sets you up for a better day when it comes to mood, energy, and concentration.
2. Drink caffeine before treatment.
As it is a stimulant, caffeine can help enhance the benefits of the stimulatory pulses of your treatments. That is, if caffeinated drinks do not trigger anxiety symptoms for you.
3. Stay awake.
Don’t sleep during your treatments. The brain should be awake and alert while the pulses are running.
4. Talk during treatments.
The brain is at its peak for learning and processing while the stimulatory pulses are running, therefore engaging in conversation during your treatment can give you optimal results.
5. Maintain a healthy, well-rounded diet.
Good nutrition can help keep your brain energy up during treatment. As a result, your concentration and endurance will improve as you continue your sessions.
6. Drink water.
Staying hydrated will help your brain function as well as combat fatigue.
7. Stay active and exercise.
In fact, come to your TMS treatments in gym clothes and go straight to the gym right after treatment. This will help keep your motivation up, relieve stress and give you a better night’s sleep.
8. Keep taking your medications as prescribed.
Abruptly stopping or missing doses can have an impact on the benefits of TMS and in general, cause adverse symptoms. Speak to your doctor before stopping any meds.
9. Stay on schedule.
Do your best to attend every daily treatment 5 days per week. Try to schedule your treatments in advance, during times that you know work best for you. Remember, this is brain training and the brain learns best with consistent repetition.
10. Be patient with yourself.
Everyone feels the benefits of TMS at different times. People in your life will often notice the changes before you do, so check in with them from time to time to see your improvement from their perspective.
