On January 31st we unveiled a brand new facility in South Elgin, Illinois!
This new center will help bring a non-invasive form of depression treatment to our neighbors. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a form of mental health treatment that is soaring in popularity. As it stands, over 2,150,000 TMS treatments have been delivered to more than 65,000 patients nationwide.
Callie Check, Project Manager for HPR, is excited about the difference this new center will make in people’s lives. She said,
While TMS therapy is not new, it’s now newly available and convenient for those living in or near South Elgin who are suffering from depression.
About 35 people attended the open house and ribbon-cutting—and it was a delightful day! Visitors got to learn more about TMS and see the quality of treatments Success TMS will be able to offer patients. The Elgin Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event. Member Relations Director Francisco Jimenez did an excellent job of spreading the word to local businesses and health providers.
The ribbon-cutting took place on a very chilly afternoon, with temperatures hovering around -5 degrees—the second day of Chicago’s Polar Vortex. People braved the harsh weather to see what TMS treatment is about. It goes to show how excited the community is for new anxiety and depression treatment options! Gloria Wall, Clinical Technician at Success TMS, commented: “We were in awe of the number of interested who still attended, which was great!”
Attendees enjoyed light appetizers, including cheese and crackers, Caprese skewers, deviled eggs, veggie dip trays, and cookie platters. There was also a solid flow of guests throughout the night, with people still walking in the door at 6 PM. Visitors had all sorts of questions to ask about TMS treatment, the most common being:
- How does TMS work? (Find the answer HERE.)
- Does it hurt? (Find the answer HERE.)
- How long does it take? (Find the answer HERE.)
- Does insurance cover TMS sessions? (Find the answer HERE.)
- What are the side effects? (Find the answer HERE.)
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to address these questions and talk about the unique benefits of TMS therapy.
TMS uses a coil that delivers magnetic impulses to targeted areas of the brain. These magnetic impulses stimulate brain regions in order to bring them to a normal level of activity. It’s an innovative form of treatment that has been shown, time and time again, to relieve depression, as well as other symptoms.
Gloria highlighted these benefits:
Knowing that there is a treatment for depression and seeing my patients’ transformation from the beginning of TMS therapy to the conclusion, I can say that it is a life-changing treatment for depression. Seeing my patients find happiness is extremely rewarding and is the best feeling.
For this reason, cutting the ribbon at the open house was an important occasion. Callie echoed Gloria’s uplifting sentiment, adding,
